Q? The distance from MyPad to…
A. MyPad is in central Paisley and just metres from the train station which can take you into the centre of Glasgow within minutes. When it comes to distance, universities also aren’t far.
- University of West Scotland is only an 8 minute walk from MyPad
- West College Scotland is also just a few minutes’ walk away
- University of Glasgow and Glasgow School of Arts are a 10 minute train journey away and trains run every 10 minutes, meaning you will never be late for a lecture!
- Strathclyde University is slightly further away, but only 22 minutes on the train
Only a 12 minute walk away is Morrisons and an 18 minute walk will get you to Tesco. As we are central, there are also many local shops nearby.
Concerned parents will be pleased to know your student accommodation is only a few minutes’ walk away from St Mirren Dental Surgery and Abbey Medical Centre. If you need any help or advice for signing up to either of these centres please let our reception staff know and we will be happy to help you.
Looking to get some exercise during your stay at MyPad? Just a 10 minute walk from MyPad is the Lagoon Leisure Centre which is fitted with a modern fitness suite and swimming pool, along with many more facilities to keep you fit and healthy whilst at university.
When you’re looking to relax and recuperate after a long session in the study room or a particularly troublesome essay, we have many pubs right on the doorstep of MyPad where you can have a social drink with your friends. We also have Vienna’s Nightclub which opens until 3am on the weekends and where all drinks are £1.50. Fatoosh is another famous nightclub in Paisley – open until 2am on weekends.
Q? Does MyPad have laundry facilities?
A. Yes, we have an in-house laundry room which is located on the first floor. We have instructions on how to use them, so no excuses for taking all your washing home! Simply top up a laundry card and you are good to go.
Q? Is there parking?
A. Unfortunately, due to being in the city centre, we do not have parking on site. However, MyPad is just above the Piazza Shopping Centre which has parking available for visitors.
We do have bike sheds just outside the building however these aren’t provided by MyPad so please make sure you bring your own lock or method of securing your bike.
The train station is just across the road, so transport into the centre of Glasgow is quick and convenient.
Q? Would I need to insure my contents?
A. Fresh Student Living offers you free Contents Insurance from Endsleigh, the UK’s number 1 student insurance provider. To check what is covered, please visit www.endsleigh.co.uk.
Q? Can we get post delivered?
A. Post is delivered to letter boxes situated by the lift on your floor, a key will be provided to you. If you’ve been sent a parcel that doesn’t fit in the letter box we’ll let you know. You can then come and sign for the delivery in reception during office hours. Please bring your ID with you when collecting parcels.
